They had the cutest miniature horse you never saw! Sorry if you missed it.
Last Saturday Night - A bunch of people carpooled to Tampa and joined a huge meeting - Great experience!
September 25th, Friday - Gather at the Polk Theater to see Fantasia on the big screen - the film that made Mickey Mouse truly famous! Tickets are only $5.00 and the popcorn and sodas are inexpensive, too. Get tickets on line, or before 7:30 p.m. show time at the box office. Remember, the volunteers come in and watch the movies, too. Parking is in back off of Missouri Ave. What a glorious history this movie and this theater share!If a classic Disney cartoon isn't for you, the Auburndale Group is having their 55th Anniversary Celebration at Saint Albans Episcopal Church, 202 Pontotoc St. They'll have finger foods and snacks. Just bring a favorite dessert to share. We do love sweets! Speaker meeting is at 7:00 p.m.
September 26th (Saturday) - The same church (St. Albans) is hosting the District 3 Service Workshop about Sponsorship! That's from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The focus in on unity and service, with practical tools and shared ideas for sponsors. After that, remember it's Saturday Speaker Meeting night on the south end of Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. No time for drinking with so many things to do!October 2nd - Let's save some rent money and play games at Home Base on 745 S. Ingraham Avenue - Mexican Train, Rummikub, or even Cards - Join us for free fun after 7:30 p.m. at Grace!
October 9th - The Silver Moon Theatre is showing Halloween 1 & 2 beginning at 8:00 p.m. This is the oldest drive-in theater in Florida and still located at 4100 New Tampa Hwy. in Lakeland. It's $23.18 per car load! Hum... do the math and pile into the big rides! Get there early for the back row where there are AC outlets for box fans, and bring chairs for a tail-gate party at the movies.Thinking of AC, Razor's Edge Band (a tribute to AC/DC) is playing at Union Hall at 1023 S. Florida Ave. Dress to K*ll with fangs and capes for this Vampire's Ball if you wish. (Street clothes are fine, too. Victims are always invited.) Concert tickets are $25.00, and it's from 7:00 p.m. to Mid-night. This tribute group will play AC/DC's music which is Rock n Roll, though some call it heavy metal with a bit of blues.
October 16th - Spend all your money last weekend? Okay, let's meet at Grace home base and play some games. We'll let you know about other ideas and options so remember to refresh your browser.
October 23rd - Visit the Mad Veterinarian Haunted House! Doors are open from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. so we'll let you know if and where a bunch of people may gather for dinner first. This haunting is provided by TLC Petsnip at 1701 E. Gary Rd. All proceeds support their spay & neuter voucher program. Calling all pet lovers!
October 30th - Boogie Nights at Lakeside Village's Annual Halloween Bash - 1479 Town Center Dr. Live DJ, Trick-or-Treat from some of the businesses, Stilt Walkers, and spooky people out to the party!
The commercial type of Haunted Houses have apparently become a pricey industry. We'll surely post it if a group goes. The rumor now is suggesting a Fall Festival Corn Maze. We're keeping an ear to the ground for more on that later.
November - Ha! How long has it been since you went roller skating?

This web page is a new way to get new people in the program involved in an old idea! What do we do on Friday nights after the party's over and we finally stop drinkin' and druggin'? They say to change people, places, and things. Sure. Just how do we do that? It means meeting new people, going places we haven't been before, and doing new things. We share the joy we find by hanging around with other like minded people.Jumping on an internet chat with a bestie who lives in cyberspace is great, but it isn't quite the same. We're here when the power goes out! We are never alone when we have live local litter mates. At THIS FRIDAY we don't have to explain ourselves. We're free! We can have fun and recover TOGETHER.
The Big Book says, "We absolutely insist on enjoying life." It's on page 132. We are a happy lot, and if you want what we have, ya' gotta' do what we do!
